SRE PAC Gaming Update:

At the January staff meeting the PAC executive reported the following on the PAC's financial situation

  • The BC Gaming Commission has reviewed the PAC finances and procedures has ruled to not issue a fine.  This was an important ruling as a fine could have been significant
  • The SRE PAC is now free to utilize their account to support student activities
  • PAC is receiving monthly restitution payments, and will be receiving these until the misappropriated dollars are fully returned
  • PAC has made another submission to the gaming commission to receive a grant for the 2019-2020 year.  This request is pending and should be ruled on in the near future

Update:

On April 25/2019 the PAC Executive gave a parent presentation on the current state of legal proceedings based on a misappropriation of funds and issued the following statement:

  • The individual who allegedly misappropriated funds from PAC has been removed from their position within PAC;
  • The misappropriation has been reported to the Kelowna RCMP Fraud Department resulting in an ongoing investigation that may result in criminal charges; and,
  • On the advice of the Kelowna RCMP, the PAC has retained counsel at Doak Shirreff Lawyers LLP for the purposes of recovering the misappropriated funds
  • A repayment schedule has been agreed to and money is currently being repaid in instalments.

The PAC is always looking for ways to increase parent participation at meetings.  Meetings are currently held on Thursdays; they are looking to see if moving to a different night will increase/decrease participation.   If you have ideas you would like to share please contact the SRE Pac President sre.pacpresident@sd23.bc.ca

 Parent Advisory Councils are the formal "voices" of parents and they provide input to schools in British Columbia.  All parents/guardians of children attending public school are members of these important councils (even if you don't attend the meetings).  Attendance at monthly meetings is voluntary, but, strongly encouraged!   An executive group organizes the P.A.C. meetings.  Other parents are needed to help with PAC projects and other school activities.  It is our hope that MANY parents will get involved by attending meetings and supporting the P.A.C. at South Rutland.

The SRE PAC executive for 2022/2023 is committed to working hard during the school year:
